Christmas Activities

It’s that hustle and bustle and scurry around time of year again.  That time when everyone is busy with shopping, parties, cooking, and visiting; and the Grenada School District is no exception!  Students, faculty, and administrators are all working as hard as Santa’s elves as the first semester of the 2011 – 2012 school year rushes to a close.  Many school events are packed into this time of year, so don’t miss a single one!

To kick off the holiday season, Grenada High School’s Visions show choir performed at Downtown Disney’s main stage over the Thanksgiving break.  The group traveled with chaperones and school supporters to Orlando for the performance.  A crowd of over 300 was on hand for the show. 

Visions’ next performance is the ever-popular, annual Christmas show.  This year’s show, entitled A Christmas Redemption, will feature several different performance times to accommodate fans.  Senior members of 2012 Visions include:  Dani Denley, Kaitlin Harrison, Karen Chan, Lorrin Marter, Olivia Worthy, Tysheann Grant, Chace Holland, Jerry Clark, Dora Abel (band), Ashton Mooney (band), Valencia McFadden (assistant).  Junior members are:  Hannah Thomas, Mary Courtney Self, Austin Rideout, Michael Hankins, Smiley Arrington, Stuart Shaw, Tanner Alderidge (band), Shane Harbin (band), Haley King (assistant), Mallory Carrithers (assistant).  Sophomore members include:  Bethany Moore, Kayla Redditt, Lauren Simpson, Paige Porter, Sara Kate Griffin, Sydney Reid, Sydney Taylor, Mitchell Sones, Mark Campbell (band),  Austin Simmons (band), Abby Vance (band), Rachel Kane (band); and the freshmen members are:  Grace Worthy, Hannah Waters, Jarvis Benson, Mason Blair, Matthew Murphy, Tristin Crockett, Jonathan Whalley (band), Hayden Wooldridge (assistant), Joey Branson (crew), Taylor Vance (crew).  Visions is under the direction of Jenni Winter, Director; Kim Porter, Assistant Director; Jan Walton, Costume Director; and Mandy Bell, Choreographer.;

A Christmas Redemption will be presented in the GHS Auditorium.  Show dates and times are: 
            Advance tickets may be purchased from any Visions member, Johnnie Harrison (GES), Debbie Thomas (GMS), Kim Porter (GHS), Dolly’s, Regions Bank, and GSD Central Office.  Advance tickets are $5.00; tickets purchased at the door will be $7.00.    A Christmas Redemption will feature students from Grenada Elementary School in the Twelve Days of Christmas.  Students from the fourth, fifth and sixth grades as well as Pizzazz and Entertainers will also be featured during the show.  Other Christmas programs are scheduled during the last two weeks of the semester at GSD along with many sports and community activities.  Other events scheduled include: Make plans to support the Grenada School District during the month of December by attending the events of your choice.
