NNDCC Drill and Physical Training Meet

           The Grenada High School Navy National Defense Cadet Corps competed in the Neshoba Central High Drill and Physical Training Meet on Saturday, December 12, 2015. The GHS cadets competed against ten other high schools at the meet including teams from Gautier, North East Lauderdale, Camden Fairview, Pearl, Warren Central, Brother Martin, St. Amant, Robertsdale, Pine Forest and Pace. The Grenada NNDCC Cadets competed in Personal Inspection, Armed Basic Exhibition Drill, Unarmed Basic Exhibition Drill, Color Guard, Academic Exam, Sit-Ups, Push-Ups, 16X100-Yard Relay, 8X220-Yard Relay, and Tandem Team. The Grenada NNDCC won the first place overall trophy for push-ups and the third place trophy for 8X200 relay.

Cadets also brought home individual awards. Cadets Dallin Foreman and Chance Wortham won third place in the Two Man Tandem competition.

The GHS cadets also swept the first three places in male push-ups with Chance Wortham placing first, Steven George winning the second place medal, and Eleasa Ramsey capturing third. Lashun Gaston placed second in the female push-ups competition, while Nory Lorenzo won third place for female push-ups. Congratulations to the teams and individuals on these prestigious wins!

The cadets face three more competitions this semester. After the Christmas break, they resumed training for these upcoming drill and physical training meets. Their next competition is scheduled for February 20, 2016, in Oxford at the Oxford Physical Training Meet. The following two meets include the Layette Drill Meet and the Northern Region Physical Training Meet held on April 2, 2016.
