Athletic Info

•Free physicals will be on Thursday, June 2 @ the athletic field house. All GHS and GMS students participating in a sport or activity next year must have a physical on file for the upcoming year. The times are as follows:
GHS Students: 12:00 - 1:30
GMS Students: 1:30 - 3:00
The student/athletes will need to have a physical form in which the name, date, school, grade, sports, sex, date of birth, age, phone/cell, address, city, state, zip code, race, parent guardian name, and work phone is completed (all of these are at the very top of the document). The parent/ guardian will also need to print his or her name and sign at the very bottom of the document.

The MS Dept. Of Education is allowing a residency proof waiver for the 2021-2022 school year. (This Does Not Appy to Parent/Guardians that used an Affidavit last year.)
If your address is the same as last year:
• Complete the residency waiver form found in registration
• Complete a waiver form for each student

Here are some things to know about our current COVID-19 guidelines and quarantine procedures:

Students and staff who are NOT exhibiting symptoms may be exempt from future quarantine if they meet at least one of these conditions:
•they have tested positive and recovered from COVID-19 within the past 90 days;
•they have received both vaccines and a booster;
•they have received both vaccines but are not yet eligible for boosters — within the past six months for Pfizer and Moderna, within the past two months for Johnson & Johnson.

Teacher of the Year

Teacher Recognized

Erica Conley, fourth grade math teacher at Grenada Elementary 4-5, was named 2020-21 Grenada School District Teacher of the Year. She attended the University of Southern Mississippi, where she earned a degree in tourism management and completed her elementary education degree at William Carey University. Conley is married to Steven Conley, with whom she has three children, Triston, Sims, and Eliza.

Students Build and Code at Kidz Tech and Kidzeum

Students at Grenada Elementary built a working fan out of Legos during a recent visit to Kidz Tech. The recently added program to the Kidzeum incorporates STEM lessons by teaching the students new skills such as computer coding and robotics.

GHS Band’s World-Class Soloist

One of Grenada Band’s senior trombonists earned distinction in a worldwide solo and ensemble competition through Winter Guard International (WGI). The annual WGI World competition is a prestigious event that brings together the best high school band musicians and color guard performers in the country.

Virtual Careers and Counseling at GMS

Counselors at GMS adapted the traditional career fair to an online, pandemic-safe Virtual Career Exploration. More than 30 professionals volunteered their time to submit videos to let GMS students know more about their careers. Participants included (l to r) Olivia Goode, an occupational therapist; Davis Byrd, a field engineer for a construction firm in Florida; Charlie Worsham, a singer-sonwriter in Nashville; Courtney Gates, a script supervisor on movie sets; Krispin Watson, a real estate agent in Alabama; Benji Britt, security director for Grenada School District; and Jason Anderson, a quality control manager at Modine Manufacturing.
Stir-frying in Culinary class

Stir-frying in the Classroom at GCTC

Students in Lisa Holland’s Culinary Arts class at Grenada Career and Technical Center learn different cuisines and cooking techniques. “The students have been working hard on learning skills in the classroom before coming into the kitchen to put those skills to work,” said Holland. The GCTC’s state-of-the- art classroom kitchen is designed to restaurant standards with professional appliances and work stations.
