Engineers Visit GUES
On September 12, 2012, Grenada Upper Elementary celebrated NASA Day. Engineers from the John C. Stennis Space Center visited the students on this day to present two programs on living and working in space. The students were treated with the opportunity to interact with the engineers, as well as, meet Orbie, the large inflatable astronaut. Students learned about the food that astronauts have in space and how it is selected by each astronaut for their missions. The students learned how astronauts sleep in space and all of the functions of a space suit. It was a great event and each child received an Orbie bookmark, Curiosity poster, as well as, several other goodies. The teachers also received treat bags with NASA resources in them.
