Educational Plan of Choice

Parents and students will have a choice of traditional, hybrid, or online setting.
Parents MUST complete the “Educational Plan of Choice” form for each child. The Educational Plan of Choice will be a commitment for a semester.
Please complete a form for each child. Parents of children in the same household may choose different educational plans to meet the needs of each child.

Traditional Classroom Setting

A traditional classroom setting describes normal classroom learning. The students will wear facial coverings according to applicable safety guidelines and social distancing when possible.

● Classroom arrangement will be desks or tables.
● Students will practice social distancing when possible.
● Breakfast and lunch will be served either in the cafeteria or classrooms. Facial coverings will be removed when eating.
● Temperature checks will take place each morning at school.
● School buildings will be cleaned and sanitized daily.
● Face-to-face learning with the teachers.
● Students will come to class every day during the week.
● Students will take all tests in classroom.
● Students in all grades (K-12) will be provided a computer from GSD.
● Students will be allowed to participate in co-curricular and extracurricular activities (athletics, band, visions, ROTC, etc.).
● Students and drivers MUST wear a facial covering.
● Students will sit one person per seat if possible unless students are from the same household.

Virtual Setting

With a virtual setting, students will not be in a classroom, but will use Google Meet and Canvas. It is highly recommended students have Internet access. If a student does not have Internet access at home, GSD will provide a zip drive and/or internet access points within Grenada County. Students will not receive equitable services when choosing virtual or hybrid as compared to face-to-face (traditional) learning.
● All instructions will be online.
● Students will need Internet access to view live instruction from the teacher through the Google Meet video platform.
● If a student cannot attend the lesson, it may be recorded for later viewing.
● Zip Drives, which contain video lessons and student activities, will be available.
● If a student does not have Internet access, Video Classroom Lessons will be provided through a zip drive or may be uploaded to a computer.
● Online testing will be done on Canvas platform.
● Tests will have an opening and closing time for completion.
● Students in all grades (K-12) will be provided a computer from GSD.
● Students will be allowed to participate in co-curricular and extracurricular activities (athletics, band, visions, ROTC, etc.). Students will be required to physically attend the activity/sports class period, practices, rehearsals, and competitions.

Hybrid Setting

A hybrid setting will be a mixture of two days face-to-face and three days in an online setting. Students will be split into groups (A or B). Group assignment will determine which days they will attend face-to-face classes and which days they will attend online. Fridays are set aside for online instruction as well as for students to receive extra help or ask questions through Google Meet. It is highly recommended students have Internet access. If a student does not have Internet access at home, GSD will provide a zip drive and/or Internet access points within Grenada County. Students will not receive equitable services when choosing virtual or hybrid as compared to face-to-face (traditional) learning.

● A combination of face-to-face learning and distance/online learning.
● Students will be assigned to be in either Group A or Group B.
o Group A: Students will physically attend school on Mondays and Wednesdays. Students will be provided online instruction and materials on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Students will have the opportunity to ask questions and get help through Google Meet on Fridays.
o Group B: Students will physically attend school on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Students will be provided online instruction and materials on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Students will have the opportunity to ask questions and get help through Google Meet on Fridays.
● When not physically at school, instructional lessons will be provided in Canvas. Lessons will consist of instructional classroom videos, assignments, quizzes, and extra activities.
● Tests will be taken either online or face-to-face.
● If a hybrid setting is chosen, siblings will attend on the same day, either Group A or Group B.
● Students in all grades (K-12) will be provided a computer from GSD.
● Students will be allowed to participate in co-curricular and extracurricular activities (athletics, band, visions, ROTC, etc.). Students will be required to physically attend the activity/sports class period, practices, rehearsals, and competitions.
