The Information Technology II class at the Career and Technical Center welcomed Grenada County Economic Development District Executive Director Pablo Diaz to their class on January 20, 2012. The Information Technology II class is currently developing a mock business that will be solely based online. Mr. Diaz graciously accepted an invitation to address the class in regards to entrepreneurism and the development of an online based business. The class will be responsible for developing the business model, developing content for the business site, coding the webpage, and creating a dedicated server to host their business site. Mr. Diaz outlined how the Economic Development District could help a new business locate customers and develop a plan for success in a manner the students easily understood.
Gaige Willing, the creator of the business idea the class is pursuing said, “Mr. Diaz gave us great ideas about how to raise money for the business and locate the people we would need to help us make our site work. We enjoyed Mr. Diaz’s visit and learned a lot from his presentation.”
The Information Technology program provides the basic foundation, skills, and knowledge for computer networking, applications, and an introduction to programming. Students develop the skills necessary to prepare for certification exams and learn how to develop, support, and integrate computing systems. The program provides hands-on experience in computer systems, planning and management and skills in network setup and maintenance.
